The challenge

Does it fit? How will it look?

Lighting makes or breaks a space, commercial or residential, and showing each design with the light and shadow it casts is one of David Trubridge's biggest challenges.

Lighting is an experience. Product photography is beautiful, but it is static: one material, one feature, one angle. It cannot show how a large pendant will look at scale in a buyer's room, and it has to be reshot whenever a product is adapted or a new design arrives.

As a high-end creative brand, David Trubridge needed a customer experience to match, for commercial clients, residential buyers and resellers alike: a better way to see a light's features in detail, explore the options and bring it to life in the space it is meant for.

What we built

WebAR, with vertical placement

David Trubridge implemented Plattar's 3D product viewer and WebAR, with vertical placement and dynamic lighting as standard. Integrated into its ecommerce platform, with View at Home on each product page, it lets customers explore designs, textures and colours in detail, then hang the light in situ, correct to scale and with realistic shadows, in a single tap.

The experience carries David Trubridge's own brand, and its team runs it through its Plattar account. Plattar lets David Trubridge:

The result

A new way to show a light

Customers now see each design, its scale and the shadows it throws in their own room before they buy, and customer engagement rose by 37%.

“By digitising our product range we've been able to showcase our lights in a whole new way.”
